The newest edition of Nourish + Thrive is FINALLY finished and available!!!
I’m really thrilled with this edition! It’s now nearly 400 pages spanning three parts!
Part One includes an excerpt from Homebirth—Safe + Sacred detailing the safety of birthing at home, a chapter describing the care generally provided by homebirth midwives, a complete listing of our many lifestyle recommendations, and—at long last—chiropractor AND midwife, Erica Boland’s article, “The Functional Progression!” Erica’s piece includes a step-by-step description of her Functional Progression, and is adorned with exquisite photographs of Erica personally demonstrating each facet of this beautiful symphony of movement!
Thank you with all of my heart, Erica, for allowing me the honor of showcasing your hard work in this format ♥
And thank you, Jessica Sands, for taking those exquisite photographs ♥
Part One is still home to the articles, “You + Your Beautiful Baby,” “It’s As You Say!” “All About Daddies Catching Babies,” “All About Sisters + Brothers at Births,” “What Babies Want,” and “Sacred,” but has been expanded to include a section about special circumstances!
Part Two remains essentially a topic-by-topic offering of ideas for optimizing your health through your season of birthing babies, including discussions of the many of the issues baby birthers are poised to face—greatly expanded!
Part Three is new and is a treasure trove of articles composed by a vast array of wonderful contributors! We have “The Vital Role of Chiropractic Care in Childbearing” by Taylor Logan, DC; “Craniosacral Fascial Therapy” by Betsy Richards; “Diastasis Rectus Abdominis (DRA)” by Lindsay Mumma, DC; “Postpartum Restoration with Functional Progression” by Melissa Hemphill, PT; “Oral Tether Release, or Frenectomy + After-Care” by Hannah Simmons, CPM; “Burning Your Baby’s Umbilical Cord” by Ashley Comer; “The Matridonal Remedies—Homeopathic Placenta, Vernix, Colostrum + Breastmilk” by Jessica Hassell; “Placental Encapsulation + Etcetera,” by Erika Rodriguez; “Womb Steaming,” by Erika Rodriguez; and “Closing of the Bones” by Erika Rodriguez!
Endless thank yous to Taylor Logan, Betsy Richards, Lindsay Mumma, Melissa Hemphill, Hannah Simmons, Ashley Comer, Jessica Hassell, and Erika Rodriguez ♥
Part Three also includes a pattern for the Woolie—the wee baby belly wrap I designed and knitted after spending more than ten years searching for a wrap I really loved! Many thanks to midwife and mother, Carrie Hull, for helping me to create the pattern!
Nourish + Thrive now also boasts an index! Theoretically, this will cut down on the number of texts we receive which begin, “I know the answer is somewhere in your book, but I just can’t find it!” It’s okay if it doesn’t, though ♥
I’m also thrilled with our new cover! Thank you, thank you, thank you to Shanda and David for allowing Brezi Swann of Love is a Photo Photography to capture this image of their gorgeous baby for this purpose ♥
Also, thank you to Dulce and Hunter for allowing us to use the photograph Peyton Craft of Sacred and Alive Photography took during their lovely cord burning ceremony ♥
And, Jaimie Taylor, thank you soooooooo much for combing through this massive tome and finding all my errors, large and small! I can’t imagine that was much of an enjoyable chore! You’re just the best! Especially for bearing with me when I didn’t exactly agree with you about what constituted errors ♥♥♥
I can’t help but notice there’s suddenly six other books on Amazon sharing the title of Nourish + Thrive with us! All but one of those books was published right here in 2024! The outlier was published in 2023! I guess we selected a great title!
Lastly, if you’ve received and read a copy of Nourish + Thrive and would be willing to leave a review of it on Amazon and/or Goodreads, I’d be so grateful to you, too ♥
